Ed Fujimoto Award for Dedication to Koi Clubs

George Bahr, a member of Olympic Koi, Goldfish and Water Garden Club and Jerry Hames, who besides being the current president of Olympic Koi, is also a member of the Koi 101 club, were awarded the prestigious "Ed Fujimoto award" last year in appreciation for their outstanding dedication and performance to their Koi club and for going beyond being just a member and doing something special for their club. The awards were presented by Ed Fujimoto at the PNKCA convention in Victoria on May 17, 2003.

More Information about the Ed Fujimoto Award

Dear Club Members:

Ed Fujimoto was the founder and editor of Koi USA magazine in California. Ed started the AKCA (Associated Koi Clubs of America), and was its first president. He also started the PNKCA (Pacific Northwest Koi Clubs Association) and was their first Chairman. Ed was active in many clubs in California including the co-founder of the Nishikigoi club. When Ed and his wife moved to Washington State he continued his efforts in promoting the hobby of koi keeping and was co-founder of the Puget Sound Koi Club, and the Olympic Koi Club.

The Ed Fujimoto award is given to one person from each club in appreciation for outstanding dedication and performance to his/her club. It is given to someone who has gone beyond just being a member and has done something special for their club. Only one member may be submitted from each club. Nominees are voted on by club members and submitted to the address below.

To submit a nomination for a member who has been selected by your club, please write a short letter sharing the reasons this person has been chosen to receive the Ed Fujimoto award for your club, listing special activities and contributions to the koi keeping hobby. Send your nomination letter to the address below no later than March 31st.
