Charlie and Becky built this series of ponds
and streams that wind through a beautifully landscaped rock garden.
They used concrete poured by hand over rebar and then covered the concrete
with a layer of colored mortar. They overlapped the seams of the
different pours of the concrete and mortar to better keep the water in
the pond so if the water leaks between the seams of the
mortar pours it will hit a solid wall of concrete.
The property consists of 4 fish pond systems:
- A Koi House, which is a 1,000 gallon pond liner with statues and apergola structure that has hanging windows.
- A concrete pond system that consists of 4 pools, streams, small bridge and a larger pool that holds about 2 thousand gallons with gold fish.
- A lily pond that is formed by a liner with 3 small pools that are landscaped next to a deck that overlooks the lilys with Shibunkin fish.
- A main Koi pond that is a raised pool with a liner that holds 3,500 gallons of water. It is covered by a Pergola structure that has hanging baskets full of flowers, raised flower beds and a deck that overlooks the fish.
