Walt and Shirley have a pond that is gorgeous both in summer and winter.  Partly because they have made it such a beautiful place, but also due to the view.

Walt and Shirley have created several waterlily ponds and surrounding gardens on a suburban plot with a beautiful view of Puget Sound and Vashon Island. The upper pond was built in 1993. It is about 9' x13' x2', or about 900 gallons. The liner is reinforced hypalon. A waterfall appears to connect the upper pond with the lower pond, built in 1994 (26' x14' x2 1/2' or 5000 gallons, 30 mil EPDM liner).

The two ponds contain about 50 different varieties of water lilies, water hawthorn, water iris, mimulus, primrose and numerous other aquatic and marginal plants. Most recently, a small header pool and fountain was constructed with a stream bed uphill of and flowing into upper pond. When both upper and lower pumps are turned on, the illusion is that of an approximately 45' waterway flowing in and out of the ponds. A dock has been constructed over part of the lower pond and is the "destination resort" of our home.
